Ouno Design primarily uses salvaged vintage textiles as a source material, converting them into painstakingly handmade textile homewares that are built to last. Because older textiles are often more beautiful, better made and more affordable than contemporary factory-produced materials, Ouno finds that aesthetics and sustainability, rather than being at odds with each other, naturally tend to coincide. Ouno Design occasionally also uses new materials chosen from a growing selection of excellent environmentally sound fabrics.

For this bedspread Ouno collects the very best geometric vintage 1960s and 70s scarves, each one like an abstract painting, and combines them in a grid to produce a striking, stylish reversible bed cover. The flip side is a new, sustainably-produced hemp/cotton weave in a solid sage colour with a modern yet linen-like weight and texture. Ouno's bedspreads are locally handmade, they require little energy to transport, they are pre-shrunk, easily washable and do not require dry-cleaning.
