Form and Fauna create beautiful shoes from sustainable and renewable materials. Their intention is to design shoes that are chic, naturally derived, unique, and comfortable. They honor both style and the animal kingdom within their design process. Form and Fauna create, but not at the expense of nature. In order to reduce their environmental footprint, they use sustainable materials in their footwear and upgrade components when they find better alternatives. Form and Fauna manufacture their products in the United States because they believe that it is important to stay close to production to ensure its integrity and fair trade practices. They believe that 'less is more'. Buy fewer things that are built to last longer. Form and Fauna shoes are handcrafted and intended for use in walking, standing, working, living. They believe that sustainable production is the way forward. Form and Fauna work with materials that are ethically produced and sustainably derived. The uppers are either an organic hemp blend or a micro-fiber sourced from Italy's finest synthetic producer, Giardini, whose materials are biodegradable and have no noxious off-gassing. All shoes are vegan - no animal products are used, glues are water based and gentler on the environment. Heels are made from bamboo or second generation scrap woods such as Alder. The outsoles are made from natural rubber latex, insole boards are recycled fiber with plush breathable eco liners and water based glues. Form and Fauna believes in form and fauna.
